Imagining Climate Futures: Worldmaking through Community-Based Narrative Storytelling and Climate Fiction

Chris’ project invites U of A and Tucson community members from various backgrounds and abilities to explore issues related to climate change through creative storytelling. Their project focused on econarratology and climate change through facilitated dialogue sessions culminating in a final presentation of storytelling and story circles about climate justice. Participants were encouraged to see themselves as individuals with agency, having a say in shaping our collective futures.

Chris Zatarain is a second-year M.A. student in the Graduate Interdisciplinary Degree Program in Applied Intercultural Arts Research.

Accomplishments

  • Preparing their workshop for January.
  • Launched interest form for Imagining Climate Futures workshop.
  • Received Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for research so that the transcripts can be used for further publication.
